About Captain Rostron

Bolton-born Captain Arthur Henry Rostron was the commander of RMS Carpathia, the ship that rescued 705 Titanic survivors. He was hailed a hero, as he did not hesitate to sail through icy waters to reach those in need of saving and, as a result, he was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal by the U.S Congress.
