We’ve picked out the best events and activities Pierhead Village has to offer for a perfect summer on the docks.
The Sound City Bar
New for this year, Liverpool Sound City are official partners of the Pierhead Village and they’re bringing a piece of rock and roll to the festival.
The first ever Sound City Bar will bring an injection of live and acoustic music to the South Side of the Village.
The bar features countless opportunities for new and emerging-local-talent, alongside some more well established bands and artists.
There will also be secret parties and amazing DJ sets from Liverpool’s favourite Sound City residents.
Each year, the Pierhead Village brings bigger and better rides to Liverpool’s stunning waterfront and this year is no different.
Test your nerves on the terrifying Power Tower, a 60 metre high ride that plummets you down in front of the Liver Building. Or for the adrenaline junkies, take a journey on the Mach Booster and whizz past the Mersey at 100 mph.
If you’re looking for something a little less crazy, the Star Flyer is a great way to take in the sights, or go for a swing on the Swinging Cruise.
One for the kids, Pierhead Village includes a whole inflatable village for children aged four to fourteen. Expect bouncy castles galore as well as fun obstacle course areas and comfy inflatable seats.
There is also a bouncy activity centre including Total Wipeout, Ninja Warrior, crazy golf, zorb balls, bungees, a climbing wall and trampolines.
So the little ones can bounce to their hearts content, as you relax with a drink in the sunshine.

Creating the Beatles – Simon O’Rouke
When: 6th, 13th, 27th and 28th August
On four days in August, the Pierhead Village will host the internationally celebrated and award-winning wood sculptor Simon O’Rourke as he takes his audience on four unique visual and musical journeys celebrating the greatest band of all time.
Over a period of approximately six hours per day on four separate days, Simon will transform huge tree trunks using only his chainsaw, into statues of the fab four.
Inspired by the iconic Pier Head Beatles statues, this amazing performance has been specially designed to take place in the shadow of the originals. The performance will be accompanied by a journey through the entire Beatles discography and some special live performances.
Once complete, the four will be revealed as the full band, before one of the History Channel’s most respected auctioneers conducts an international auction of all four band members with all proceeds going to local children’s charities.
The Beatle Weekender
When: 26th-28th August
Taking place over the August Bank Holiday, the Beatle Weekender is working in partnership with The Cavern Club as part of the 60th anniversary of the legendary venue.
This weekend will celebrate the songs of the fab four on the Sound City main stage, with Sgt Peppers on Sunday and a celebration and tribute to Brian Epstein on the 50th anniversary of his death.
The Artisan Takeover
When: 8th-10th September
Between the 8th and the 10th September, the Artisan Village will take over the Pierhead to showcase Liverpool’s finest makers and creatives.
There will be even more products on offer, ranging from beautiful artwork, artisan souvenirs, unique food and drink plus much more.
A perfect summer on the docks wouldn’t be completely without a spectacular closing party, the artisan festival will be kicking it off and it’s completely free!
The Danger Tree Exhibition
When: Until 3rd September
Set within the stunning Mann Island development, The Danger Tree Exhibition is a ground breaking augmented reality art experience commemorating the World War I’s most iconic poets.
Scarlett Raven and Marc Marot’s latest exhibition uses the latest technology in augmented reality to weave poetry, animation and music into traditional art.
Each painting in this poignant exhibition tells an immersive story of the soldiers who fought and fell in the Great War between 1914 and 1918.
As you enter the gallery, headphones and smart-enabled devices use Blippar, a world leader in the field of augmented art, to bring the exhibition to life. Simply hover the device in front of a piece of art and you will unlock the hidden interactive story inspired by the original artwork.
