Back for the 16th year in a row, the Liverpool Comedy Festival runs from the 15th September to the 1st October with over 100 shows in 25 venues across Liverpool City Centre.

For two weeks the festival transforms the funniest city in the UK into the funniest city on the planet with household names to up and comers.

Powered by local charity The Comedy Trust, this world class showcase promises to be the most laughter filled two weeks you’ve ever experienced.

Headliners

Each and every year the team strive to deliver first class entertainment with the biggest and best line-ups, featuring a string of familiar faces alongside new and up-and-coming talent from the world of comedy.

This year’s shows will see the biggest selection of headliners the festival has ever put on and the most shows since it all started back in 2002.

Micky Flanagan

When: 19th September

Where: Echo Arena

One of UK Comedy’s biggest names, Micky Flanagan is coming to the Echo Arena for his  ‘An’ Another Fing…’ 2017 tour.

This follows his record breaking “Back In The Game” tour of 2013 which took in an incredible 129 shows, making it the biggest comedy tour in the world that year – having sold an unbelievable 500,000 tickets in the UK and Ireland alone.

This show is sure to be a big hit in Liverpool.

Rob Brydon

When: 29th September

Playing Liverpool’s Empire Theatre, Rob Brydon is set to bring his hilarious evening of new stand-up comedy full of hilarious stories, abundant with quick witted audience interaction, fast paced humour, improvisation and the most amazing impersonations to Liverpool.

The star of Gavin and Stacey, and host of Would I Lie To You?, Rob Brydon’s performance is sure to delight old fans and new.

Greg Davies

When: 29th September

Where:  Empire Theatre

Greg Davies, BAFTA nominated star of Cuckoo, Man Down, The Inbetweeners and Taskmaster, is back with his first stand up show in four years and it’s set to be one of his funniest yet.

Join ‘undoubtedly one of the kingpins of British comedy’ on his biggest ever tour. Come witness the magnificent beast that is Greg Davies.

Milton Jones

When: 1st October

Where: Echo Arena

Milton Jones is Out There. No, really out there and this time he hasn’t just forgotten his keys.

In his brand new show he’ll be putting his foot down and lifting the lid on the pedal bin of lies of the media . He will also be scaling the heights of fashion at the risk of falling into a terrible cravat.

Milton will be talking about his life so far – the ups, the downs and why buying his own see-saw was the best decision he ever made.

Kiri Pritchard-Mclean

Making up part of the line up of RITA’s amazing all star night of entertainment, Kiri Pritchard-McLean known for her appearances on Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central, is coming to Liverpool to showcase her talent.

The night is guaranteed to have you rolling in the aisles.

Jerry Sadowitz

When: 5th October

Where: Epstein Theatre

An American-born Scottish stand-up comic and card magician,  notorious for his frequently controversial brand of black comedy, unique combination of comedy and card tricks, Jerry Sadowitz is famous for his random and weird stand up.

Joe Lycett

When: 17th September

Where: Epstein Theatre

Joining  Kiri Pritchard-McLean and a host of other comedians including Gary Delaney and Tanyalee Davis, Joe Lycett from Live ant the Apollo, 8 Out of 10 Cats and Never MInd the Buzzcocks is performing for the RITA all-star night of entertainment.

This is one of the top events on the bill this year, so don’t delay getting your tickets.

Liverpool comedy festival

The Irish hip-hop comedy freestyle duo take their hit show to Liverpool and it promises to be their biggest, most ambitious show ever.

Witness the fictional autobiography that entertained over 10,000 people in a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The year is 1993. After destroying rural Ireland’s talent show circuit, hip-hop improvisers Abandoman are teetering on the edge of international fame. This is their access-all-areas story: the highs, lows and a cast of characters…that changes every night.

Local Talent

As well as all of the big names, there is of course some brilliant local comedians taking to the stage all over the city centre of Liverpool.

Liverpudlian comedians Adam Rowe, Ant Campbell and Stan Boardman and Wirral wunderkind Callum Oakley are on the line up, plus the Hot Water Comedy Club has programmed more than 70 shows. These will feature headliners, comedy battles, Gong Shows, TV names and new act nights in their new Seel Street comedy club.

The Comedy Trust is also teaming up with the Liverpool Mental Health Festival with their ‘Still Feeling Funny Show’. The event will display the talents of The Comedy Trust’s alumni from their mental health and wellbeing ‘Feeling Funny’ stand-up comedy course.

There will also be stand-up, workshops, sketch, improv, open mic nights, cabaret, magic, comedy dining, theatre and comedy battles.
