About George and Edith Vanderbilt
George W Vanderbilt II was a member of the famous Vanderbilt family, and both he and his wife Edith booked a passage on the RMS Titanic in 1912. However, they chose not to travel via the ship and instead sailed to New York at a later date.
As they cancelled so late, many early newspaper articles reported the couple were onboard the ill-fated vessel.
