About Captain Smith
Captain Smith was the commander of the White Star Line’s RMS Titanic when she set off on her maiden voyage on 10th April 1912. His wife was born in Liverpool and he was based in Merseyside for 40 years until he moved to Southampton in 1908.
While his last few hours on the ship are mostly unreported, it is believed he made no attempt to save his own life when the ship sank.
