About the RMS Oceanic
The RMS Oceanic was built in 1899 by the White Star Line to become the largest ship in the world. After 15 years of service, the ship was commissioned by the Royal NAVY as an armed merchant cruiser. However, on 8th September 1914, she was ran aground and wrecked off the island of Foula, Scotland, and was the first allied passenger ship to be lost at war.
