About J.Bruce Ismay
J. Bruce Ismay, the chairman and the managing director of the White Star Line, employed Norman Shaw, a highly regarded architect, to build his head office at 30 James Street. Ismay was also the highest-ranking White Star official among the 705 surviving passengers. However, many called him a coward for abandoning the ship, but he later dedicated the rest of his life helping victim’s families by providing significant donations.
